Project Case Studies - Locking Solutions

In 2020, Kinect was appointed Australian distributor (excl WA) for XLOCK, a European developed and manufactured wireless smart furniture lock system.

In the space of 2 years, Kinect has overseen such high profile fitouts such as Sydney Iconic Performing Arts Centre, Munich Re, Lion Co, Mitsubishi, HRL Sydney, VIC Govt and TFAL. A selection of case studies are showcased below. In addition, our partner in Perth, Prodotti solutions has successfully installed large projects with a total of several thousand locks supplied in 2 years.

Kinect’s point of difference is personalised service pre, during and after installation. Prior to install, we engage with the client (in conjunction with our locker manufacturing partner) in determining their access control card credentials and the types of use of their lockers in determining the most appropriate solution. During the install, we are able to offer no charge programming, labelling and sorting services if required. After installation, we provide on site and/or virtual training, full operation manuals as well as ongoing support for up to 2 years at no charge.

Munich Re

Munich Re, one of the largest re-insurance companies in Europe recently relocated their Australian HQ to a brand new building in Sydney. Their requirement was first and foremost to have two independent methods of accessing the locks – the Bluetooth enabled XLOCK80 BLE met the brief perfectly, enabling access via MiFare Classic RFID as well as via an included phone / tablet Application. The App also enables seamless user access and record data management whilst maintaining independence from the company’s existing network.

The invisibly mounted “one touch close” mechanism ensures a seamless operation for the user and a clean aesthetic for the fitout, an important consideration for the interior designer.

Iconic Sydney Venue

This iconic performing arts venue in Sydney (name witheld) features a total of 800 locks, a combination of XLOCK30 for permanent employees (allocated lockers) and XLOCK40 for contractors (freelockers) in a back of house area.

The simplicity of managing cards via Master Cards appealed to the client. They are also upgrading their building access control system so the locker system had to be future proof to ensure compatibility with their new ”Mifare Desfire” cards

HRL - Sydney

This client in Sydney moved into the new 60 Martin Place building with the aim of having lockers that would showcase the timber finish – the invisible nature of XLOCK fit this brief.

Whilst swipe card access was the preferred method of use, the Bluetooth function proved a useful backup as well as having the ability to monitor battery status at all times.

Lion Co

This project in Sydney is an install in progress whereby the client had several hundred digital pinpads installed a few years prior. The existing product has proven consistently faulty, so the client decided to progressively replace the product with XLOCK30. The main reason for the client’s decision was the solution’s compatibility with existing building swipe cards across several sites in Sydney.

TPG Vodafone Australia

TPG telecom and Vodafone recently merged to form one of Australia's leading telecommunications companies. The brief was to accommodate extra staff at Vodafone’s head office without the need to add additional lockers. The 1000 lockers are being progressively converted from manual combination locks in an allocated mode to XLOCK40 in a flexible temporary “freelocker” mode using existing building access cards.

An ingeniously simple Perspex cover was designed to fill the hole left by the removal of the manual lock as well as function as the LED indicator and swipe location.

Automotive Finance

This client chose XLOCK180 with Bluetooth over a hard wired solution due to the simplicity of the wireless connection and the ability to operate and administer via the included Phone App. A future upgrade is planned to add Wifi Gateways in order to add remote unlocking as well as real time data synchronization.

Corporate Property Group

One of Australia’s leading commercial property groups recently relocated their Western Sydney satellite headquarters. Battery operated XLOCK was chosen as the preferred solution due to its ease of integration within island locker pods and the ability to use either swipe card and/or smartphone to access the lockers.

A unique feature with the fitout is that the bottom lockers are drawers, providing a more ergonomic solution for users. The XLOCK mechanism seamlessly suits either swing doors or drawers.
